San Diego, CA – Karl Strauss and Pure Project release two collaboration beers this Thursday, October 31. The two independent, San Diego-based breweries teamed up to revive previous collaboration brews from years past in the spirit of San Diego Beer Week. The KARL and Pure teams present Murky Poetry Hazy IPA & Liquid Allusion Murky IPA. 

Karl Strauss Brewing Company and Pure Project Brewing are no strangers to brewing together–Murky Poetry and Liquid Allusion were first released in early 2020. These two Hazy IPAs became fan favorites among San Diegans, and the breweries teamed up to bring them back for a limited time. KARL and Pure are longtime members of the San Diego Brewers Guild and local staples in the nation’s Capital of Craft.  

KARL’s collaboration release, Murky Poetry, has tropical notes of guava and sweet orange that intertwine with a soft, pillowy mouthfeel. KARL’s version of the collaboration beer was brewed with Amarillo, Citra, Nectaron, and 586 hops and has an ABV of 6.3%. Murky Poetry is available on draft and in 16-oz 4-pack cans in all nine Karl Strauss brewpubs, as well as in bars, restaurants, and retailers across California, Arizona, and Nevada. Pure Project’s co-founder and brewer, Winslow Sawyer, echoes these sentiments. “We’re honored to bring back our collaboration release, Liquid Allusion, with the pioneers of San Diego craft beer! These collaborative IPAs embody the craftmanship and quality that both breweries are passionate about and reflect what makes the San Diego beer scene so special.” 

Liquid Allusion Murky IPA (6.5% ABV) features Nelson, Enigma, and Mosaic Cryo hops in a brew bursting with juicy pineapple, mango, and an orange creamsicle finish. 

The teams’ collaborative efforts go beyond brewing, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared passion for the local San Diego beer scene. Find Murky Poetry and Liquid Allusion on draft and in 16-oz 4-packs starting October 31.  

Murky Poetry marks the second of KARL’s two San Diego-based collaborations for 2024, preceded by The Godfather Italian Pilsner, brewed with Societe Brewing Company earlier this year.
