Celebrate American Craft Beer
Sponsored by the Brewers Association, American Craft Beer Week (May 12-18) is an annual week-long celebration of the craft beer industry and is a chance for breweries across the country to promote craft beer and beer culture. This year American Craft Beer Week celebrates brewers’ community citizenship. The Brewers Association estimates that, in 2007, America’s craft breweries donated more than $20 million to charitable causes.
"In addition to being recognized for making world-class beer, independent craft brewers are amazing community citizens," said Julia Herz, a spokesperson for the Brewers Association. “Craft brewers are an integral part of many communities’ charitable efforts. They donate to everything from fire departments, disaster relief efforts, local events, educational fundraisers and so much more.”
At Karl Strauss Brewing Company, we are committed to supporting our local community. Each year, we host 2 non-profit events at our Main Brewery in Pacific Beach – Beach to Brewery and Karlfest – that raise money for Surfrider Foundation and the Karl Strauss Brewers Education Fund. We also support numerous local non-profits through event sponsorships, committing 1% of beer sales to charity on an annual basis. In 2007, that translated into backing more than 250 events with more than 4,000 cases of beer.
